Indoor Chapel

At Solar da Luz, you can explore two beautiful chapels: one indoors, on the second floor, and the other in the garden. While we know the outdoor chapel was built in 1632 (as inscribed above its door).

Chapel

The origins of the indoor chapel remain a mystery. However, this sacred space has likely been part of the house since the Fidalgos da Luz family built it. Portugal is a predominantly Catholic country, and it was common for families, regardless of their wealth or social standing, to have a dedicated space for religious symbols and prayer in their homes.
